Scratch DJ Academy Interview 2012

How did your DJ career start?

I got involved with djing at the age of 16 in Chicago, IL and taught myself how to mix after being influenced by local radio DJs. I considered myself a ‘Mixtape DJ’ for many years since I primarily produced mixes for friends and fellow students on high school/college campuses.

It wasn’t till 2005 when I received the itch to make Djing a career after becoming involved with the Scratch DJ Academy in Miami, FL.

Where did the name ‘Bounce’ come from?

The name ‘Bounce’ was given to me at the age of 13 by my friends in Chicago. After school we would experiment smoking cigarettes and would bring cologne to mask the stench from our parents. One day I didn’t have cologne so when I arrived at home, I immediately ran to the basement and found BOUNCE fabric softener to wipe over my clothes.

After that, I would always carry Bounce fabric softener with me thus given the name ‘Bounce.’

Do you do private events? Weddings?

In addition to clubs, I have over 7 years of experience performing at many private events from corporate to weddings. For more info contact Bounce Music Group.

Which other countries have you played?

I’ve played in Canada, Spain and Italy. I would definitely love to play more shows out of the country within the next 2 years.

With the evolution of the internet, people from around the world have easy access to my mixes and I get great feedback from fans everywhere from France to Australia.

What’s the best event you’ve played at?

Best event so far has to be Christmas Eve 2010 at LIV on the main stage. The club was pumped, I was pumped and I was also able to demonstrate my skills as a Video DJ. It was a great Christmas present that year.
